Machine embroidery files, not hand patterns

These Christmas embroidery designs are digitized files for an embroidery machine. They are not printable hand-embroidery patterns or kits, so you load them onto your machine and it stitches the design for you.

Plan holiday projects ahead

Because these are digital files, you can start as soon as you buy. That helps when you are batching gifts or stocking a craft-fair table.

Confirm the sizes on the Etsy listing so the designs fit the hoop you plan to use.

Character scenes and classic appliques

The Christmas tree group scene fits 5x5, 5x7, 6x10 and 8x8 hoops; it starts at 5x5 because eight characters need room to keep every face sharp. The Santa hat row comes in three widths: 5, 7 and 9 inches (127, 178 and 229 mm).

For a traditional look, the applique designs (snowmen, a Christmas cat, Santa, a reindeer, a gingerbread house, a holly wreath monogram frame, Christmas baking and a nativity) come in five hoop sizes from 4x4 to 8x8. More on the applique embroidery designs page.

Prepare festive fabrics properly

Felt, fleece and knit fabrics each need different support. Our stabilizer guide explains when to use cut-away, tear-away or topping.
